I was watching a CBC interview with Maya Angelou in which the male broadcaster had the audactity to ask her, "What would your good friends Malcolm X and Martin Luther King think of you supporting Hillary?" He might as well of asked, "Are you Black first or female first?" Angelou basically responded by saying that her "friends" would be proud of her since she was an intelligent person making an informed decision...BAMBOO BLITZhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09090965016034239599noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30786752.post-55188338274455375732008-03-06T22:57:00.000-05:002008-03-06T22:57:00.000-05:00I saw that and was spitting nails over it. What t...I saw that and was spitting nails over it. What the writer, and most of the old guard don't get, is that the younger generation has to live with sexism every single day. While we continue to earn less than our peers (those of us privileged enough to hold traditionally "white-collar" jobs), while our sisters and daughters are still preyed upon by men who think the world (ie women) owe them sex just for existing, while women who look like us are torn from their homes and children around the world, what has the old guard done? They've bitched and moaned about Obama using the word "periodically." Uh-huh.

Don't tell me I don't understand sexism, or that I don't understand that my lifestyle could not exist without the feminists of the seventies. I'm well aware, thank you very much. I just don't think those women are still fighting the good fight, and I've got better things to do than stroke their egos.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30786752.post-20523193519706434492008-03-06T12:08:00.000-05:002008-03-06T12:08:00.000-05:00Just read the article. I am not about to vote for a candidate simply because she is a woman. She needs to be the right woman.

Why are younger women called anti-womyn because we don't hop in line with the substitute to patriarchy: white, older feminists who tell us what to think and who to vote for.UnbridledSpirithttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11263241058510285808noreply@blogger.com
